ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Scott

Rooted in Service, Driven by Results
Scott Benson’s journey began in a household where education, discipline, and service were more than values—they were a way of life. The son of two public school teachers, Scott learned early that real leadership means showing up, working hard, and making a difference. That belief carried him through 28 years in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served two overseas deployments and developed the strategic mindset and problem-solving skills that now guide his work in Detroit.
Leadership That Moves Detroit Forward
Since his election to the Detroit City Council in 2013, Scott has turned bold ideas into tangible results. His leadership has helped create thousands of jobs, secure over $500 million in business investment, and improve public safety across the 3rd District. Whether it’s fighting blight, attracting new businesses, or ensuring safer neighborhoods, Scott remains laser-focused on building a city where every Detroiter has the opportunity to thrive.
His mission is clear: keep Detroit moving forward with real leadership, real progress, and real results.
